My “third” photoshoot

September 24, 2006

I’m taking this advanced photography class to help my wedding job look better. My homework assignment was “People”, so I asked a couple of local models (read: friend and boyfriend) to pose for me in my brand new studio. I think they came out pretty well for my first time in a studio.

Andy:
This one bothers me because his eyes aren’t in focus, but I do like the pose.

Wee eyes in focus!

Jennifer:

These last two are my favorites, although I love them all.

Comments? Jessica? If you don’t like something please tell me. I’d rather get “these are too bright” than “these are great!”. Although, if they are good and need some work, you can tell me they’re “ok”. :)

I haven’t blogged in awhile, and at the request of someone, I remembered that blogs existed.

August was an interesting month. I don’t really want to get into it but suffice it to say that it opened some eyes, not only mine but others. Something really cool that actually started in July was getting back together with an old friend. Jennifer and I used to be best friends way back in elementary/middle school, but sort of grew apart in high school. Recently, because of MySpace, we’ve been hanging out a lot and talking about our lives. She and her boyfriend Francis are Good People, and I have MySpace to thank for us becoming friends again. Speaking of, this weekend, our old friend Trish is going out with us to Broad Ripple with another friend Natalie and her boyfriend. It’s so nice to be part of a group (which I have not been in years.). Pics to come later.

My friend Sean from high school came back to visit from Los Angeles and we had a great time. It’s a shame California is so far away, I’d go all the time.

Another cool thing is that my good old friend Nate and I are talking again. This happened in the last couple of weeks, and it’s been just like old times. It’s unfortunate for everyone involved that it took a turn of events for this to happen, but just like when we had our falling out, I’m not angry at anyone and things happen, sometimes good, sometimes bad. I just know that having friends again is a great feeling, so Thanks all my friends. :)

I got serious about photography (since I got fat and would be horrified to see myself in front of a camera). I got a paying job as a wedding photographer, which happens at the end of October and I’m excited about it. I was able to buy a new lens, flash and studio lighting. I also got a new laptop for this purpose, but also so that I could use it in other settings because my motherboard broke on my other one. I loved that lappy. :( I’m on my way to setting up a studio, and maybe if I can set it up right, use my tripod to take pictures of myself…. because… I have lost 13 pounds since the beginning of August. I’m almost at the first tier of my weight loss goals. First I need to lose 2.5 pounds to meet my first goal, then 10, then another 10 and I’ll be all set. However, if I get to my first 10 pound goal, I’ll be taking it easy on the diet since that size isn’t a horrible one for me. The doc says I should get that last 10 to be healthy and to get rid of my insulin resistance.

Last bit of information is I took up two new hobbies, although I’ve only started them and can’t find the time/help to finish. My mom is a master at sewing, so I thought I’d take it up and make my own outfits here and there. Sometimes spending $10 on the cloth is better than $40 for a dress at the store. She went to Mexico to visit my grandmother so that’s been stalled, but hopefully that’ll pick up again. The other hobby is on the other side of the gender-role spectrum, which is building a cat tree. My stepdad has to help me with this, and he never has time for anything, so who knows how long this will be stalled. Jennifer and Francis like to golf, so I got some clubs from my dad and hopefully I’ll take up hitting some balls as another hobby.

So on to my wish list. Saving money sucks ass, but here’s what I want to buy within the next year:

  • Kawasaki Ninja 250. This has been on my list for 2 years. I think it’s time to go for it. Plus, they get 60 miles per gallon.
  • Canon 70-300mm IS USM. Yeah, I gotta scrounge up a few hundred dollars for this bad boy. Why is my hobby so expensive?
  • A house. I hate this one the most. Down payments need several thousand dollars, and I’m pretty fucking broke.
  • Another vacation. God I want to take another cruise really bad.
  • I can’t think of anything else right now, but I always want a million things and never get them.
  • Oh crap, I forgot – I am getting a tattoo on the back of my neck.

That’s about it. Expect another blog in 8 years.
